Wi-Fi printers dropping every hour is one of the most common calls we get. Here's the systematic fix.
1. Confirm the printer is on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, not 5 GHz. Most home printers do not support 5 GHz.
2. On mesh routers, temporarily disable band steering, connect the printer, then re-enable.
3. Assign a static IP to the printer via router DHCP reservation — fixes 60% of 'printer offline' complaints.
4. Update printer firmware from HP/Canon/Epson support site.
5. Reinstall drivers on your laptop using the vendor's installer, not Windows built-in.
