Microsoft's Windows 12 rollout is underway through 2026. Here's what changes for regular users, and what to check before upgrading.
Minimum hardware. TPM 2.0, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD and an NPU-capable or newer CPU. Older 8th-gen Intel machines are officially unsupported.
AI features. Recall, Copilot everywhere, live translation and smart search — most require an active internet connection and a Microsoft account.
Should you upgrade now? If your laptop meets the requirements and you rely on Copilot, yes. Otherwise, Windows 11 receives updates through 2028.
